ロボトニクが部下に指示するシーン。quillはハリネズミ（つまりソニック）の「針」。

公衆電話（pay phone）を見つけたソニックに対しトムが言うセリフ。fugitiveは「逃亡者」の意味で、fugitive from the lawで「逃亡犯」のこと（fugitive from justiceの方がより一般的なようだ）。ハリソン・フォードの有名な映画「逃亡者」の原題も『The Fugitive』。

ロボトニクが少年時代にいじめっ子にいかに復讐したかを語るシーン。brawnは知力（brain）との対比での「腕力」（physical strength）の意味。例：In this job you need brains as well as brawn（Oxford Learner's Dictionaries）（この仕事は腕力も頭脳も両方必要だ）。trumpは名詞で「切り札」「奥の手」の意味だが、動詞で「～に勝つ」「～に勝る」の意味。よく知られるように、trumpにはカードの「トランプ」の意味はない。

トムたちの行方を聞かれた酒場のおじさんがいうセリフ。Like I'd ever tell youは文字通りには「私があなたに教えるかのように（あなたは思っている）」だが、意味としては「教えるわけないだろ」といった感じになる。likeをas ifにしても同じ。例：Like I care.（知ったことか）

直後のトムのセリフ。このoneはおそらく直前に言っていたwhack job（いかれた奴）のことで、「（そんなの着てたところで）お前はwhack jobだろ」の意味と思われる。

終盤にロボトニクがソニックに言うセリフ。a litany of ~で「うんざりするほど多くの～」の意味。
